My weekend consisted of loads of errands and chores, but I carved out a bit of sewing time for myself, too. I managed to finally cut into the towering stack of fabric I pulled together for my munchkin's minion quilt.
A zillion and twelve 2.5" squares later, I started playing around with the layout on my design wall, and I'm in love. This project is so much fun to work on. I found myself wanting to do a little happy dance when it suddenly stopped looking like a bunch of squares and started looking like a minion.
Now I just have to start sewing these rows together and keep the munchkin out of my sewing room in the meantime. Wish me luck! Happy Monday to you :)

That is adorable! I hope someday to be as skilled and talented! Fab job! Looking forward to the finished product.
ReplyDeleteMy 2 and 3 year olds are laughing so hard at this right now.
ReplyDeleteLoving your little minion!
ReplyDeleteSo fun!
ReplyDeleteMy son would love that too! It's looking amazing, can't wait to see the finished quilt
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! I have 3 boys and they would love this! Cindy
ReplyDeleteSuch fun! I can't wait to see it finished.
ReplyDeleteadorable
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteOh that is just too fun!
ReplyDeleteAWESOME. P.S. I ran this by my resident 6-year-old, and he identified it as a minion right away.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I have also been thinking of doing a minion quilt, my kids love them. I can not wait to see yours finished.
ReplyDeleteOMG!!! Love it! Gotta send this to a friend to see.
ReplyDeleteOh it is fantastic - he will love it as I'm sure all of blogland does.
ReplyDeleteI love this. Every quilter needs a minion, or a few.
ReplyDeleteIndeed - can you imagine having a minion running around your sewing room??!! The thought puts a huge smile on my face!
DeleteThe minion quilt is FABULOUS.
ReplyDeleteSo much WIN :)
ReplyDeleteBecause we moved from IL to AL this summer, I did not get the Lucky Stars BOM patterns for June, July, and August. How do I access them? I have all the other blocks. Nancy: rangerer@sbcglobal.net
ReplyDeleteHi there Nancy, the best way to get blocks that you're missing is always to email me. I'll set the system to resend your blocks to you now.
DeleteYou're going to have one happy munchkin on your hands when this is finished!
ReplyDeleteHow fun!
ReplyDeleteIs it for a birthday? If so, have you seen all of the minion/twinkie ideas floating around on pintrest?
I have seen a lot of those Pinterest goodies, and I've faithfully pinned them! This is more of a just-because quilt, no real holiday or birthday that I'm sewing it around!
DeleteHOW CUTE CAN YOU GET?????!!
ReplyDeleteThis is seriously too cute! I have one little minion that would be in heaven if I made this for him.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say, I had a friend recommend laying a project out on a flannel-backed vinyl tablecloth. The flannel grabs the pieces and keeps them from moving, but you can fold it up and hide it when school's not in session. It really works for me!
That's a fun idea, thanks for sharing!
DeleteAs an English Granny to a three year old granddaughter, I am at a loss. What is a minion, please? To me a minion is an underling but presumably a minion is now a tv character, a new Bob the Builder perhaps?
ReplyDeleteYou've got the right idea - these minions are definitely underlings, in the movies "Despicable Me" and "Despicable Me 2" - they're the adorable little henchmen of the main character, Gru, and they have their own hilarious language. Think Oompa Loompas but way cuter and less creepy!
DeleteThis makes me smile!! My daughter would love this quilt and she is 15!! Minions are her fave! I might have to tackle some of those little squares!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh... I'm in love!! You're A.M.A.Z.ING!!! My daughter and I would be so totally happy if I could get my act together long enough to make this sweet quilt a reality at our house. :) Good job!!
ReplyDeletethis is awesome!!!
ReplyDeleteThe minion quilt is amazing. I was talking with several of my non-quilting friends and showed them this quilt and they LOVED it. From one designer to another, you need to pattern that... YOU MUST. Even if it's free on the site... I don't think you would get into trouble for that. Good Job!
