I had a rough day with my boy yesterday, and felt the need for something girlie, so I whipped up this little (36" square) quilt top, using some leftover Ruby and Bliss charms that have been sitting on my shelf for a while. Even just cutting into them made me feel infinitely better and happy.
Now, I must go back to my red-and-white zigzag quilt (basting, yay!), but this prettiness is going to stay up on my design wall to make me smile for the next few days. What are you sewing up this weekend?
pretty layout!
ReplyDeletei am going to work on totes bags for an upcoming craft fair. and hopefully some other things will get sewn up too. we will see! :)
My friend is having twin girls in Jan. I'm busy making girl quilts for her as a surprise.
ReplyDeleteAdorable! I hear ya, I feel like I'm always making baby boy quilts. Woohoo for playing with pretty girly fabrics for a change :-) Happy basting!
ReplyDeletesee, for me, it's the opposite. i'm surrounded by girls, with only a few boys scattered here and there! but i'm pregnant with a boy, so i need to start transitioning from girl fabrics to boy fabrics, which i'm severely lacking. :)
ReplyDeletemy baby girl is now 7 months, but it seems like she's the only sheila in a sea of baby boys. it's not just the boys that can be trying though; this week i've been in need of some therapeutic sewing indeed! haven't gotten to do a lot, but every little bit helps! then she smiles, and the sewing doesn't matter anymore... can't help but love that little girl of mine!
ReplyDeleteFunny that everyone around you is having boys... just the opposite here... girls, girls, and more girls...
ReplyDeleteI'm just hoping I get a lot of time to sew this weekend. My quilt guild is having a chinese auction next week and we are suppose to donate hand-made items to it. I'm really only a quilt maker, not much on branching out! I made a pot holder the other night and it turned out terrible. It was awful! Hoping to try again today.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute and refreshing--definitely leave it on the design wall! I would just be happy to be sewing ANYTHING this weekend as I have spent the whole week with an on-site computer guy trying to get my new hard drive to work with old software. It's been challenging but I think things are finally playing nicely together. Oops. Hope I didn't just jinx things...
ReplyDeleteI'm working on zippered pouches for a business opportunity.
ReplyDeleteYou are right, everyone I know personally is having a boy too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty wee top. Thankfully none of my friends are exploding with babies right now, so I have none to make quilts for. I've tried persuading them to get to it, but none of them are biting so far... ;o)
ReplyDeleteThat's so pretty and happy! Maybe you can just quilt it up for your boy... guys should be able to like pink, too. ;)
ReplyDeleteReally sweet! Not sure what I'll sew this weekend...I need to get sewing on Luke's superhero quilt! My friend asked him what he wanted for Christmas, and he said a batman quilt. My heart melts!
ReplyDeletePretty quilt! It all seems to be girls in my family/friends, I'm waiting to make a boy quilt!!
ReplyDeleteHaving two grandsons and no grand-daughters, my world is pretty much the same!
ReplyDeleteThat quilt top os very pretty; I'm glad it makes you smile.
I am hoping to try out my new-to-me quilting frame this weekend!
I'm right there with you on the rough day yesterday with my boy! Yikes! I am completely surrounded by my boys, nephews, and baby boys on the way. Good for you for bringing a little girliness into your day! The quilt is super cute!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya on the baby boy thing going on. I have made 4 baby boy quilts as gift this year and 0 for girls. I actually made a couple of girl quilts as charity quilts cuz I love all the cute little girlie fabrics :) And just like you, they made me smile. Love your top, it makes me smile too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super cute quilt!
ReplyDeleteI just had my third baby (a Boy after two girls) and it definitely seems to be the year of the boy this year. I've made three boy quilts this year and not a single frilly girl one.
I'm finishing the quilting on a pumpkin tablerunner to take to my sister-in-law for Thanksgiving. Then, I'll load the frame with a memory quilt top for a customer. What an honor to be a part in project for his son. Next, an attempt to convert a photo of my daughter into an art quilt!
ReplyDeletefinished my pouch for the plp swap. nothing like waiting until the deadline right... now i am going to tackle my swoon!
ReplyDeletejust too adorable
