Holy cow, I will be getting on a plane in just two short weeks!

I cannot believe how quickly the Sewing Summit is creeping up.  It's kind of unbelievable to think that in just two short weeks - scratch that, THREE weeks! - I'll be getting on an airplane, by myself, and flying across the country to meet tons of people who have become dear friends of mine over this last year of my blogging.

The Sewing Summit

I've got a ton of things I'm hoping to finish up before I get on that airplane.  I'm making a few things for some of the special friends I'm planning to meet, and like some of the other super cool kids heading to the Sewing Summit, I really wanted to make a nametag inspired by the awesome blog header Lee designed for me.

Nametag front done!

I'm almost done now, thanks to some quiet stitching time on the couch yesterday, and I'm just debating how to make it a nametag.  Hot glue a safety pin to the backing?  Add some kind of cord to make it a hanging nametag?  I'm totally taking suggestions here.

What are you stitching up today?

  1. cute nametag!

i would add a cord to hang it on your neck. that way it's easy to remove. you can buy plastic sleeves for that type of thing. not sure where though...:(

  2. Ohhh its adorable! Not sure how to finish it off, hanging sounds like a good idea, then you don't have to worry about pesky pinholes in your shirts!

  3. If you would like to go with a pin, you can get "pin backs" at Michaels or another craft store.

I like the idea of the plastic sleeve and the lanyard.

You can get lanyards and the plastic sleeves at any office supply store. You can also get a clip to hold the plastic sleeve to your shirt/top/sweater.... lots of options!

  4. Did you see Faith's post (Modern Day Quilts) yesterday? She finished off the tag like a quilt, but didn't say how she was going to wear it.

I would attach some sort of pin to it. In the craft/jewelry section they have pins with a flat back and holes so you can attach/sew things to them.

  5. Augh! I hate it when my husband is signed into google and I don't realize it! Anyway....

  6. What about the little double-headed alligator clips? You could clip one side to the nametag and the other side to your shirt

  7. Love the nametag! Hot glue won't hold metal to fabric. If you choose a pin back, you'll need to stitch it on or use fabri-tac. Hanging or pin depends on your personal preference and comfort.

  8. Stitch it to a hat/attach it to a hair band?! Great name tag - think I'd go for a lanyard and some pelmet vilene on the back so it doesn't curl. Have fun!

  9. Two weeks...two weeks?!!? Holy cow, how did that happen??? Haven't thought of a name tag - you're so creative!!

I personally like the lanyard idea...I never seem to have a good place to pin things on my shirts.

Oh, I can't wait to meet everyone!

  10. A while ago I saw this really cool name tag holder. It was like a small purse (really small purse).

  17. Very lovely name tag. I personally prefer to hang them around my neck - then I don't have to worry about the pin tearing my clothes!
