Have you seen the Scrappy Trip Along? It's blowing up on Instagram and Flickr, and for the last few days, I have desperately wanted to drop what I'm doing (or not doing, as the case may be) and do nothing but play with my scraps and have fun. But between my lazy post-holiday hangover and a sick kiddo, I haven't done much sewing this week...until now. I fully caved :)
I dived into my scrap bins this morning and pulled together the first block of a quilt that I am planning to keep, just for me. Something beautiful and filled with scraps that make me smile, and so far, I can see why everyone's addicted. And I sense that a scrap destash will be coming soon for me, because my scrap bins seriously overfloweth, so stay tuned!
trying not to cave - so hard not too when I do love scrappy. have fun!
ReplyDeleteUgh, you're not helping! I was JUST looking at the tutorial and thinking I might start on this tonight...but, yes, there are other things to do! Are you just going completely scrappy, or do you have a plan?
ReplyDeleteShe's very lucky !
ReplyDeleteCongratulations ...
*sigh* I love scraps of my fave fabrics! :) What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI totally wanted to have a scrappy January, so the trip along fits right in . . .I just also have to finish a few wips too!
ReplyDeleteThat is definitely on my bucket list and soon! Have loads of scraps left to me by various quilters. I'm currently doing a quilt as you go jelly roll stripper with a plethora of hunter green and pink strips.
ReplyDeleteI so want to join the fun but it doesn't fit in with my plans/goals for 2013 so I have to be strong and resist! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI'm holding out for now, except that I just had an idea of what I could use for it... nooooooo!
ReplyDeleteoh, i've been trying so hard to resist this QAL! I have a bucket of scraps but they are all different sizes. Luckily I think I have too many deadline commitments to jump into this one yet! Can't wait to see yours come along!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting!!! My laptop is broke so I'm a little behind on my blog reading. This is a wonderful surprise!
ReplyDeleteI did the practice star BOM tonight and it came out to 5 1/4" with the 6 1/2" directions. Was I supposed to enlarge the triangle paper patterns? At a loss.
ReplyDeleteLooking good!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe I actually CREATED scraps for the trip along. So now that that is done, since I'm only doing nine blocks, I will work on making more blocks actually using scraps! They really ARE addicting!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying very hard not to fall for it either, but it's harder and harder, with so many wonderful scrappy blocks popping up everywhere.
ReplyDeleteLove your block. Great colours. I saw a neat idea on Blue is Bleu Flickr page. She is making the centre of each block in a dark fabric and having some yellow in every block too. It looks good and your block is done in the same way. Will you keep to this pattern or make them completely scrappy? I am still being strong willed, determined not to start one of these glorious quilts until I finish a few outstanding projects!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the winner. That block looks lovely and it's sentimental which is even more special!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to resist this 'Trip' but seeing it everywhere ~ may have to get on the ride.
ReplyDeleteLove your block ~ great fabric choices!
Your block looks awesome!
