I kind of can't believe I finished this quilt. It's so large that my husband actually helped me wrangle this quilt while I finished off the binding. I am so relieved/overjoyed/ecstatic/happy that this quilt is finally finished and that there will at long last be a quilt made by my two hands on my own bed, my fourteenth finished quilt of the year!
I'm really happy with how this turned out, and how I went from making a throw sized warm/cool quilt to a 90" square warm/cool quilt. It was definitely a lot of work, and working with such a large quilt was definitely challenging, but I'm so happy with the end result that it makes all the headaches along the way disappear.
After much internal discussion, I did some basic free-motion stippling across the whole thing. The size of this bad boy really intimidated me, so I thought I ought to play it safe. I think I'm pretty glad I did - the quilting doesn't distract at all from the awesome design of this quilt, it just gives it some great texture.
The binding is one of my favorite prints from Simon + Kabuki's Juicy Blossoms line for Timeless Treasures - a small gray pindot called Dots Grey that works great as a neutral for this quilt. I adore this binding, wish I had yards and yards of this print!
Thank you again, Jeni, for hosting such a great quilt-along, I really enjoyed it. I've learned so much from you both about fabric and color. You rock! :)
Now, off to make my bed with this fresh from the dryer quilt!!! Happy Monday everyone and happy Labor Day to you!

ReplyDeleteYou are hard core, my friend! It is ridiculously freaking gorgeous and I'm in awe of it. : )
ReplyDeleteI think you and I should have a game-show-style fabric-name-off. A timed showdown - whichever one of us can name the most fabrics in her Warm/Cool Quilt in a certain amount of time wins a fabulous new car. Now we just need to find a sponsor who will donate the car. LOL.
