This has been a crazy busy sewing week. I've been trying to finish up all of my holiday sewing so I could get my machine to my dealer for a well-deserved and much needed cleaning. After the 13 quilts I made this year and various other projects, it is so thoroughly necessary. I think I'm about done, just one more binding to machine on one side, and then Betsy is off to get herself a nice cleaning.
Finished:
Urban Lattice quilt along - It's off in the mail! It will get to its final destination hopefully by the end of the week, which is a huge relief. I can't wait to hear from my brother on Christmas and hopefully get some wonderful pictures of the quilt in use.
A trio of holiday pillows - I couldn't stop at just one. :) Stay tuned for the full reveal tomorrow!
Scrappy monster pillow for the munchkin (formerly a robot pillow - it didn't work out!) - Done and hidden away in a closet the munchkin can't get to. He is either going to love this or hate this, I'm not sure yet...
Pillowcase for the munchkin - I wound up making two of these, and they are all done. I was on a full-on pillow kick this weekend, it felt like Santa's Pillow Warehouse at my house!
Making progress:
That Girl... quilt along - I am painfully slow at hand-stitching binding on, but I'm determined to get better at it, so I'm still plugging away at it, ever so slowly.
New projects:
Mug rug for my mother take two - See above! I'm not sure I love what I did for the first one, so I'm working on another one...
Something embroidered - AnneMarie has convinced me to give embroidery a try, so when I take my machine in for a cleaning later this week (and have to live without it until just after Christmas, eek!), I am going to try some embroidery. Stay tuned to hear about the epic fail that surely will result...

Don't forget to check out the linky at Freshly Pieced every Wednesday for more works in progress!
And mark your calendar...I'm going to be hosting a linky next Monday, December 20th. The end of the year is fast approaching, so I'm going to post some of my ideas for sewing and quilting next year, and I'd love to see you guys do the same and join in the fun! Share concepts, inspiration, stacks of fabric, lists, whatever you like. I adore lists, they make me happy, and I can't wait to see what you all are planning for next year. :)
Hmmm... how about you machine attach the first side of the bindings and send me the hand sewing part ha ha! I'm much better at hand sewing than figuring out the whole attaching-to-the-quilt thing! Check out my blog, you'll see my total fail at binding! ha ha. Congrats on your great progress this week.
ReplyDeleteI really like your second mug rug! I LOVE the red binding on it - really makes it pop!
ReplyDeleteAnd kudos on plugging away at handsewing your binding. Don't give up! Some quilts take me a while to hand sew it all down - so I usually try and pop in a good movie and relax. :D Can't wait to see your quilt along quilt all finished. I gotta start binding on mine. Reading your post has made me feel the itch to try and finish today, thanks!
I think that everything is looking good! I think I'll be sewing today...working on a quilt for my son for christmas...but just a simple one. =) Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI love the new mug rug for your mom! The straight line quilting is awesome. Congrats on having a very productive week!
ReplyDeleteHappy WiP Wednesday!
The quilting on the second mug rug is great! I like the color choices too.
ReplyDeleteHave fun with the embroidery! I wish I had a machine that did that.
Good job with all of your progress this week! I can completely relate to being slow at hand sewing binding. Sometimes it really takes forever. Happy WIP Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteYou have been busy! Isn't it nice to get those gifts in the mail? I know I sighed with relief when I made the package drop.
ReplyDeleteWhatever that fabric is in the top picture I'm loving what I see...
ReplyDeleteMy gosh, you are continuing to just kick butt. I am in awe. : ) And it all looks amazing. I like both your mom's mug rugs, but that straight-line quilting on the pinwheel one is just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteTell Betsy to have a nice spa trip! Thanks for linking up.
