Today's the last day to enter the big Giveaway Day giveaway here on my blog! Click here to enter, if you haven't already, time's running out!!!
It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - another week gone, another list to make! Here's a recap of the sewing goings-on in my neck of the woods...
Finished:
Beep Beep quilts
Goodie Bag Swap
Still going:
Spiderweb quilt - I am really, really hoping to focus on this one this week so that I can finish these blocks once and for all. I'm getting close!! I am really making some progress here, chain piecing the rest of the spiderweb quarters, which is less time-consuming than my previous piecing method. Stay tuned! I'm also trying to think about how I'm going to put these blocks together. I had initially planned on sashing these blocks, to emphasize the star shape in the center, but I'm not sure how I feel about it, now that I'm nearing the end of my piecing journey. Michelle suggested I lay the blocks out on my design wall spaced apart to simulate sashing, so now I'm pondering...though I'm leaning toward skipping the sashing altogether, despite how much I initially liked the idea on paper...
3x6 bee block tute - I lost track of this project last week - it was one of the posts that Blogger ate in the big Blogger hiccup, and then it returned twice over, and well...then I didn't do anything with it. This one should be up by Monday at the latest.
Still on hold :(
Single Girl
Super secret project
New this week: (I couldn't help myself)
Modern Crosses baby quilt - I love the super simplicity of the Modern Crosses pattern from Modern Log Cabins. Lately, I haven't been too into following patterns, but for some reason, I really want to with this one, though I am adapting the size from a large lap quilt to a baby quilt for some dear family friends, who have a new baby.
A new quilt along in the works - I'm getting ready to start a(nother) new quilt, and I'd like you to join me! Next week, I will have actual details, like what we'll be making and how much fabric it will take and all that jazz, but for now, if you like the concept of this block, you're going to like this quilt-along...

Oh, I love that modern crosses quilt too! It's definitely on my list.
ReplyDeleteVery excited to hear the details of your quilt-along! You know I love that block.
hmm.. i'm not sure what I think of the spiderweb with sashing. I think it might break it up too much. You could always emphasize the stars in your quilting!
ReplyDeleteThat spiderweb quilt rocks!! And that is a really cool quilt-a-long block. Would that ever scrap bust!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I like the sashing spaces, personally. I prefer the spiderwebs to be together! And sheesh, another QAL? Is this incentive for me to finally finish the last one? ;)
ReplyDeleteThis is such a tough decision with the spiderweb quilt. The stars do "pop" more with the sashing, and it's so original this way. But if you don't LOVE it this way, I'd probably just push them back together and finish it the "traditional" way.
ReplyDeleteDid you see Amanda Jean's spiderweb quilt (no sashing) a few months ago (http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2010/08/im-ready-to-call-myself-quilter-now.html)? I thought it was beautiful, and the stars do look nice with the straight line quilting she did.
I can't wait to see what you decide!
Hooray for another quilt along!
i LOVE that quilt along block! very unique!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun group of projects! I like the spiderweb with and without sashing! Have you considered another colour than white for the sashing? Anyway I look forward to seeing what you decide.
ReplyDeleteI love the new block and will be following along, if not quilting along ...
ReplyDeleteOhhhh that block is stunning! Absolutely not what I need to do right now, but I may just have to join in!! Love those beep beep quilts, and the modern crosses is so simple design wise but so striking! As always everything looks amazing!!
ReplyDeleteLove your spiderweb blocks and the tote bag and the log cabin blocks! That book is waiting for me at the library and I can hardly wait to get there to get it to give those modern log cabins a try.
ReplyDeleteoooh lovely lovely quilts you have finished there or are in the process of finishing. I love the simplicity of your tote! Thanks for popping over to my blog! Fi
ReplyDeleteEverything looks really nice this week! I like how your tote turned out (can't remember if I commented on that post or not), for some reason when you shared the blocks I was thinking they were a lot bigger than they are. I like it better this way than what I was thinking though.
ReplyDeleteNot sure on the spiderweb quilt, I almost think I like it better without the sashing, but either way will look good.
your upcoming quilt along is a block on my to-do list, but I wasn't sure how to get it ta-done. Count me in!!!
ReplyDeleteyour productivity inspires me! i love everything you are doing. i really like the idea of the sashing on your spider web quilt. i haven't ever seen one sashed and i think it would be fantastic!
ReplyDeleteohhhhhh that is a verrrrry tempting quilt along! ! ! ! !
ReplyDeleteBeautiful creations!! :) Love the baby crosses quilt and your quilt along block is amazing! I finished my mini bookshelf quilt too! It's on my blog today if you want a peek! :)
ReplyDeleteLove the modern crosses, and I still love those beep beep quilts!
ReplyDeleteLove your modern crosses, I can see why you couldn't resist that one! I still kind of like the idea of sashing the spiderweb quilt, but I love spiderweb quilts unsashed as well, so you could go either way there. Thanks for linking up to WIP Wednesday. : )
ReplyDeleteI love the block can't wait to see the instructiosn and all the details. I might be able to join:)
ReplyDeleteAll of your projects make me want to get busy! I love the bag and all the quilts, both finished and in progress! I've been looking for a quilt along, so I'll check back next week to see how its going.
ReplyDeleteI love the "new quilt in the works" block...might just join you for that one! Can't wait for the details!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you are planning for that strippy aqua block!
ReplyDeleteAll of this is gorgeous!!! Just added you to my blogroll! I have to visit more.
ReplyDeleteEverything looks beautiful, and yes, I'll have to check out your quilt along next week!
ReplyDeleteI think the spiderweb looks better without the sashing, but in the end, you have to like it. Really liking the modern crosses!
ReplyDeleteI'll definitely be checking out your quilt along next week, that block is so pretty. You had a busy week as always...I'm not sure which way I prefer the spiderwebs, I think I'd go for no sashing but I don't think you can go wrong!
ReplyDeleteLook at that spider web blocks and all the progress you made this week.
ReplyDeleteI love the spiderwebs quilt. Great colours!
ReplyDeleteLove the Modern Crosses quilt! That one is on my To Do list.
ReplyDeleteModern Crosses are rocking my world almost as much as your Spiderweb. You're almost there with the blocks!!
ReplyDeleteI would skip the sashing on the Spiderwebs, personally. I also love that new QAL block!
ReplyDeleteI like the spider web both ways - one benefit of the sashing is you get a bigger quilt! I almost like it better with the sashing because of all the open white on it. It would look very pretty on a bed.
ReplyDeleteThough it is much more striking without sashing, it might fit better in a bedroom with the sashing? Who knows, but I know it's great work!
Love that last block. Just beautiful. And I like where your spider web is going!
