First, I worked on my Birdie Stitches block for May. This one was the most tedious so far - lots of flowers to embroider on this one! I like how it turned out, though, and I'm super pleased that the embroidery seems to be on the block straight for once.
Next, I worked on my do.Good.Stitches blocks for this month. I enjoyed these blocks, they were very easy to put together. We're using a tutorial from Hyacinth Quilt Designs for this month's blocks and focusing on light blues and greens for our color palette.
I saved my block for Angela in the {Sew} Beautiful Bee for last, this weekend. It was at least partly because I wasn't 100% sure about what I wanted to make for her. Angela has given us complete creative control this month after sending out some gorgeous blue fabrics. She was inspired by the modern sampler feel of this red & white stunner from Crazy Mom Quilts. I ultimately adapted the Stashbuster block from Material Obsession 2: More Modern Quilts with Traditional Roots, and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I've been wanting to try this block for a very long time, and I definitely like how it came together. I sure hope Angela likes it too! I love the fabrics she selected, they're so calm and soothing. I cannot wait to see what kinds of blocks the rest of the group makes!
Finally, I can leave you with a teeny-tiny sneak peek of something I'm sending in the mail today to our {Sew} Modern Monday hostess, Megan. She and I are doing a little mini-quilt swap, and keeping what I made for her a secret is a serious challenge! I can't wait to show you the rest after she gets it!
I'm linking up today with {Sew} Modern Monday. Hop on over to see some other fantastic modern finishes!
